Momentum Building for a White House Office of Sexual and Reproductive Health and Wellbeing

By Jamie Hart

We have big news! Last week, seven U.S. Senators supported the proposal for the creation of an Office of Sexual and Reproductive Health and Wellbeing (OSRHW) within the White House.

The support for the new office was first reported in The 19th News and CNN.

The OSRHW would be responsible for creating a new federal framework for sexual and reproductive health and wellbeing.

The push to establish the dedicated office is also a foundational part of CECA’s Recommendations for Achieving Universal, Equitable Access to Quality Contraception, which were developed after more than a year of collaboration with CECA’s partners and input from more than 100 technical experts across the nation.

We are most grateful to Senators Warren, Booker, Gillibrand, Markey, Merkley, Duckworth and Blumenthal for their incredible advocacy and support.

We invite you to learn more about the full set of evidence-based recommendations CECA developed and how the federal government can demonstrate leadership and commitment to expanding equitable access to contraception in communities across the country.

Stay tuned for more news on the advancement of CECA’s recommendations!
