Lisa Stern, RN, MSN, MA

CECA Deputy Director

Lisa is a nurse practitioner whose career is dedicated to advancing sexual and reproductive health equity through healthcare delivery, research, teaching, and advocacy. In her role as Deputy Director at CECA, Lisa works closely with the Executive Director to shape and implement CECA’s overall strategy, including partnerships, work streams, and team development. In addition to her work at CECA, Lisa consults to organizations throughout the U.S. to improve the delivery of patient-centered sexual and reproductive health care. 

Lisa’s research encompasses users’ experiences of LARC (long acting reversible contraception) removalclinicians’ own contraceptive practices, and the history of the measurement of unintended pregnancy. Lisa also teaches nursing and medical students at the University of California, San Francisco, where she received a Master’s Degree in the History of Health Sciences. 

Prior to joining CECA, Lisa served as Vice President of Medical Services at Planned Parenthood Northern California and as Associate Director of Research at Planned Parenthood Federation of America. Lisa is a graduate of Harvard College and the Yale School of Nursing. In 2018, Lisa participated in the Rockwood Leadership Institute’s Reproductive Health, Rights, and Justice Fellowship.
